Pressure treated dimensional lumber will last longer than natural wood, in environments that are exposed to the elements and moisture. It’s increased endurance against insects and fungus makes this material much more resistant and strong. Treated lumber tends to be denser than untreated lumber creating an increase in strength and reliability.
Old South Wood Preserving, LLC uses southern yellow pine as lumber material. Southern yellow pine has an unique cellular structure that permits deep and uniform penetration of preservatives, rendering the wood useless as a food source for fungi, termites and micro-organisms. When pressure treated, southern yellow pine can be expected to last for many decades. We offer lumber in the various sizes:
2x4 (Pressure Treated and Non-pressure Treated options available)
2x6 (Pressure Treated and Non-pressure Treated options available)
2x8 (Pressure Treated and Non-pressure Treated options available)
2x10 (Pressure Treated and Non-pressure Treated options available)
2x12 (Pressure Treated and Non-pressure Treated options available)
The high density of southern yellow pine gives it its natural strength, weight, and impact and wearing resistance. So no matter your project, you won’t be lacking when you choose this material as your base.
Dimensional lumber is wood fiber that is cut to a specific size (thickness/width/length) based on pre-defined, standardized sizes. Dimensional lumber is often used in wall framing, wall paneling, furniture construction, post and beam construction, and floor and wall paneling.
